Piper Laurie <\/strong>is one of Hollywood\u2019s most gifted and respected actresses with 3 Academy Award nominations, Golden Globe and\u00a0Emmy wins, and countless nominations.<\/p>\n

Piper\u00a0Laurie has been called one of the most celebrated and formidable actresses of the last half-century. She has been nominated three times for an Academy Award: for\u00a0T<\/em><\/strong>he Hustler<\/em><\/strong>,\u00a0Carrie<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Children of a Lesser God<\/em><\/strong>. She has starred in almost a hundred films, starting as a teenager in 1950 when she was signed as a contract player to Universal Studios. She worked opposite\u00a0Tyrone Power<\/strong>,\u00a0Paul Newman<\/strong>,\u00a0Ronald Reagan<\/strong>,\u00a0Donald O\u2019Connor<\/strong>,\u00a0Dana Andrews<\/strong>,\u00a0Rock Hudson<\/strong>,\u00a0Rory Calhoun<\/strong>,\u00a0Victor Mature<\/strong>,\u00a0Tony Curtis<\/strong>,\u00a0Jason Robards<\/strong>,\u00a0Walter Matthau<\/strong>,\u00a0Jack Lemon<\/strong>,\u00a0Cliff Robertson<\/strong>,\u00a0James Garner<\/strong>,\u00a0George Clooney<\/strong>, and\u00a0Mel Gibson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When she was twenty-three she changed her life and career by breaking her lucrative studio contract to do live television and theater in New York. She was nominated for an Emmy as the young alcoholic opposite\u00a0Cliff Robertson<\/strong>\u00a0in the much-celebrated original live TV performance of\u00a0The Days of Wine and Roses<\/em><\/strong>. She followed it with twelve more Emmy nominations, winning for the Hallmark show\u00a0Promis<\/em><\/strong>e<\/em><\/strong>. She was awarded the Golden Globe for playing both a man and a woman on David Lynch\u2019s iconic\u00a0Twin Peaks<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ms. Laurie has performed in numerous plays on and off Broadway, including the 20th anniversary production of\u00a0The Glass Menagerie<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0with\u00a0Maureen Stapleton<\/strong>\u00a0and the Tony-nominated revival of\u00a0Mornings at Seven<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ms. Laurie wrote and directed the short film,\u00a0Property<\/em><\/strong>, and in 2011 directed Jim Brochu\u2019s Drama Desk award winning performance in\u00a0Zero Hour<\/em><\/strong>.
