LA Femme Film Festival’s Founder, Leslie LaPage, announces that the

EVERLY HILLS, CA – March 8, 2012

LA Femme Film Festival’s Founder, Leslie LaPage, announced today that the 8th Annual LA Femme Film Festival 2012, October 11-14, 2012, has opened its call for entries for the 2012 season.  “This will be an amazing season because LA Femme has welcomed the Documentary Channel (DOC) as a sponsor for this year.” said Leslie LaPage, Founder and Director of the Festival. LA Femme’s call for entries “Early Bird Discount” submission deadline ends May 16 with discounted rates for submissions in all categories. The last festival submission date is August 22 under “I Forgot Deadline.”

In addition, this March, Documentary Channel (DOC) honours female Documentary filmmakers by premiering three (3) films from LA Femme Film Festival alums. The DOC’s “Her Take is a remarkable blend of unforgettable stories told by some of the most exceptional women in documentary film; every night of “Her Take promises to enlighten, inform and inspire. The special line-up began with the US television premiere of filmmaker Gulcin Gilbert’s “Pink Skies (LA Femme Doc selectee). This inspiring film follows a group of courageous women, many cancer patients and survivors, as they attempt the World Record All-Women’s Skydiving Formation to raise money for breast cancer.

Other US television premieres in the line-up include “Atomic Mom (LA Femme Doc selectee) (March 24th, 8 p.m. ET/PT), director M.T. Silvia’s unique exploration of two women, both mothers and their very different experiences of the atom bomb; and director Gillian Armstrong’s “Love, Lust & Lies” (LA Femme Doc selectee),  (March 31st, 8 p.m. ET/PT), the fifth of Armstrong’s unprecedented series about the lives, hopes and dreams of three lively, working-class girls since they were fourteen-years-old in 1976.

Over the last year, LA Femme has worked closely to provide more opportunities for filmmakers to show their work nationally under our entertainment partnerships and sponsorships, such as the Documentary Channel. All our documentaries DOC will be viewed this year, and we expect continued distribution success amongst our filmmakers who are receiving distribution opportunities.

8th Annual LA Femme Film Festival Continued

The Festival will run from October 11th-14th, 2012, in Los Angeles, CA, screening over 100 films highlighting independent features, shorts, music videos, commercials, special screenings, seminars and much more.  The four-day Los Angeles event hosts special networking events at LA hot spots, and “A List celebrities attend a gala Awards Ceremony.  LA Femme is dedicated to celebrating and empowering female artists, creating media for a worldwide audience. LA Femme showcases works “by women for everyone from all over the world. Ms LaPage states, “No Festival, not even Sundance or Tribeca, does what we do for women, we actually work to get our women Directors, Filmmakers, Writers, and Producers seen and sold. We have a very high success rate with distributed films.”
